Submitted on March 7, 2024
During the 2024 Founders’ Day Convocation, the newly elected Student Government Association (SGA) officers were announced and administered their oath of office by Dr. Curtis Sandberg, Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students. All six students are attending Georgetown College through the Legacy and Legends Scholarship, a full-tuition scholarship for admitted students from Casey, Franklin, Owen, and Scott counties.
“All of these students bring valuable leadership skills to the table,” said Sandberg. “They are very involved on campus and have served in leadership roles across campus. They will serve the student body well!”
The newly elected SGA officers include President Zach Hamner, a junior from Georgetown, Kentucky, majoring in political science and economics; Vice President Diana Alvarado, a junior from Georgetown, Kentucky, majoring in Spanish and sociology with an emphasis in criminal justice; Vice President of Academic Affairs Evan Spencer, a junior from Georgetown, Kentucky majoring in English and philosophy; Vice President of Community Affairs Jackson Butler, a junior from Frankfort, Kentucky, majoring in allied health; Vice President of Public Relations Kaden Turner, a junior from Frankfort, Kentucky, majoring in allied health; and Parliamentarian Garrett Boring, a junior from Georgetown, Kentucky, majoring in political science.
SGA serves as the voice of the students to support new initiatives, plan campus events, and share information with the student body. SGA also serves as a liaison between students and administration to share student concerns and help implement new ideas that impact change across campus.
