Joe Nanashe Artwork

Comfort Zone Opening Reception on Thursday, August 22nd

Submitted on August 21, 2019

The Wilson Gallery will host the exhibit, Comfort Zone, by New York-based artist Joe Nanashe beginning with an opening reception on Thursday, August 22nd from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

On the installation Nanashe says, “I like making things do what they’re not supposed to do.”

Using modern, utilitarian items and rearranging them or shaping them in distinct ways, Nanashe meditates on the futility of building comfort from these items.

Nanashe received his B.F.A. in Studio Art from the University of Akron and his M.F.A. in Visual Arts from Rutgers University. His work has been featured in exhibits and galleries across the country, including in NYFA Gallery and Garis & Hahn.

The Anne Wright Wilson Fine Arts Gallery features artwork by new, emerging, or experimental artists. This represents the first installation in the Wilson Gallery of the 2019-2020 academic year.
