The religious studies major focuses on a wide range of religious cultures and worldviews, with a particular strength in Christianity, the college’s longstanding tradition. Majors develop skills in interpreting religious phenomena and traditions, past and present, deepening their understanding of human nature and universal human concerns. The skills you will gain in the Religious Studies major greatly enhance cross-cultural communication and effective leadership across a wide range of life paths. The major also serves as an excellent allied course of study (i.e., second major) for numerous other programs, including Communication, History, Language and International Studies, Political Science, Psychology, Pre-Law, Pre-Medicine, Security Studies, and Sociology. Many graduate schools and potential employers find these programs attractive because they demonstrate diverse knowledge and skills in their candidates.
