SCHOLARSHIPS FOR FIRST-TIME FRESHMEN
The scholarships listed below are available for first-time residential freshmen. Eligibility is based on a student’s ACT and/or SAT score and high school GPA. Commuters are eligible for the same scholarships, but amounts will be reduced proportionately to costs.
Athletic Scholarships: Athletic scholarships are determined entirely by the coaches, who consider everything a student brings to the college. To complete a recruiting form for any of our exceptional sports, please visit the athletic website.
Presidential Scholarship: $29,000 - $31,000. Recipients of this scholarship are encouraged to apply to the Honors Program. Those accepted will receive an additional $4,000 per year.
Founders Scholarship: $19,000 - $28,000
Heritage Scholarship: $9,000 – $19,000
Opportunity Grant: Awarded based on financial need according to the completed FAFSA.

LEGACY AND LEGENDS SCHOLARSHIPS
As Georgetown College approaches its 2029 bicentennial, we recognize the impact that Casey, Franklin, Owen, and Scott counties have had on our history. With support from loyal alumni and donors, Georgetown College is proud to offer the Legacy and Legends Scholarship. This scholarship applies all outside scholarships and grants toward student tuition, including KEES, Kentucky Tuition Grant, and CAP grants; GC then covers the remaining tuition costs. However, GC does not pay for housing or dining; students are responsible for those fees. If a student receives a Pell Grant, their Pell dollars can be applied to housing or dining costs.
FAQs
IS THERE A DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR LEGACY AND LEGENDS?
Yes! We require all interested students to apply to Georgetown College by February 1, their senior year of high school, or the spring before intended attendance.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
- Apply and be admitted to GC. APPLY NOW! It’s Free.
- Be from Casey, Franklin, Owen, or Scott Counties – lived for one year in the county or attended and graduated from one of the high schools in these counties.
- Once enrolled, students must take at least 12 credit hours a semester to remain eligible.
- Must remain in good standing (not on probation); generally, this means maintaining a 2.0 GPA or better.
- Students cannot have attended a college elsewhere prior to enrolling at GC.
CAN I COMMUTE
Yes! Students who meet the commuting requirements may do so. However, the Legacy and Legends Scholarship is also reduced by 25%, meaning students pay approximately the same in tuition as they would in room and board if they chose to live on campus.
CAN I STILL COMPETE IN ATHLETICS?
Absolutely! However, if you receive a Legacy and Legends scholarship, you will not be eligible to receive additional scholarships such as an athletic scholarship.
CAN I STILL JOIN AN HONORS PROGRAM OR A PROGRAM OF DISTINCTION?
Absolutely! However, if you receive a Legacy and Legends scholarship, you will not be eligible to receive additional scholarships such as an honors scholarship.
SCHOLARSHIPS FOR TRANSFER STUDENTS
The scholarships listed below are available for transfer residential students. Eligibility is based on a student’s GPA at their current institution.
- Georgetown College Advantage Scholarship: $17,000-$23,000
- Georgetown College Enrichment Scholarship: $8,000-$17,000
- Georgetown College Opportunity Grant: awarded based on financial need according to the completed FAFSA
COMPETITIVE GEORGETOWN SCHOLARSHIPS
Georgetown offers several competitive academic programs that may include an additional award for students who do not receive one of the special scholarships (such as Legacy and Legends). Students are limited to one program. Click on any of the following links for more information:
OXFORD HONORS — The Oxford Program offers Georgetown students the opportunity to enroll and study at Oxford University during their junior or senior year. Before attending, qualified students will use GC Honors courses to develop and refine the academic skills, content expertise, and personal habits needed to thrive in the renowned Oxford Tutorial method of teaching and learning.
SCIENCE HONORS — An honors program unique in undergraduate science education. You will have opportunities to see how scientific knowledge shapes our understanding of the world, conduct your own original research anywhere in the country, and share this work with scientists across the country and around the world. And it all starts at GC!
INDEPENDENT HONORS — An honors program unique in undergraduate science education. You will have opportunities to see how scientific knowledge shapes our understanding of the world, conduct your own original research anywhere in the country, and share this work with scientists across the country and around the world. And it all starts at GC! The Independent Honors track challenges students to discover and develop their intellectual strengths and purpose by completing a personalized honors curriculum developed in consultation with an honors adviser.
HEALTH SCHOLARS — The Health Scholars Program is the perfect preparation for students interested in a health-related career! Along with providing a community of like-minded students, Health Scholars will give you important professional experiences and the skills and preparation that you need to succeed in any form of post-graduate health program.
PRE-LAW — A highly competitive program, admitting no more than 18 students annually, and highly beneficial.
CHRISTIAN SCHOLARS PROGRAM (CPS) — This program helps students pursue God’s calling as servant scholars. Students reflect carefully on their lives and faith and pursue a vocation through meaningful experiences on and off campus.
FINE ARTS — Whatever your medium – film or flute, brush or bass voice – our innovative arts programs are for you! We offer artists private studio space and professional-level film equipment, and we offer musicians unique pep bands or chorales and travel opportunities. Georgetown College is the place for artists looking to hone their craft as part of a beautiful life.
OTHER GC SCHOLARSHIPS
Faithways Academy and PAEMS - Students who attend Faithways Academy or PAEMS, both summer programs available to high school students, are eligible to receive an additional $2,500 scholarship per year if they are receiving an academic scholarship. Faithways Academy allows students to engage in an in-depth exploration of their vocation, while PAEMS is an advanced summer program for students in the sciences and math.
GC GUARANTEE- A PELL PLEDGE SCHOLARSHIP
Every student should have the opportunity to pursue an exceptional, affordable education at a Christian college. That’s why Georgetown College has committed to the GC Guarantee: Pell Pledge Scholarship. We guarantee that any student eligible for the Pell Grant who maintains at least a 2.5 GPA will have no increase in tuition costs for the four years of college! Students do not need to apply separately to receive this scholarship.
OUTSIDE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR GC ONLY
Suffoletta Scholarship
Available to students from Scott County High School or Great Crossing High School who are coming to Georgetown College. The application is due by April 1st, and the award amount is $1,000 for the first year.
OTHER OUTSIDE SCHOLARSHIPS
We post occasional external scholarships that seem like a great fit for our students, but we do not administer them, and our listing of them should not be taken as an endorsement of those scholarships by Georgetown College. It is still your responsibility to be sure that the scholarship fits your needs.
- Athnet Sports Recruiting Scholarship: Available to undergraduates who were high school athletes. You do not need to be an athlete at the college level to qualify. - PNC Bank: PNC offers a Financial Literacy account that helps students learn to create—and stick to—a budget, minimize college loan debt, and build a foundation for life after college. - Anthony Munoz Scholarship Foundation: Available to Tri-State high school seniors within the Foundation’s Area of Impact. This includes 22 counties in Southwest Ohio, Southeast Indiana, and Northern Kentucky. Students are interviewed and selected based on financial need, academic achievement, ability to overcome adversity, and ambition to succeed. This is an application-based process. - P.E.O. Education Loan Fund: Qualified women can apply to the local P.E.O. chapter (AQ) for additional education loans of up to $12,000 for a bachelor’s degree or a postgraduate certificate, or $15,000 for a master’s degree program. The interest rate is 2%. For more information on how to contact the local chapter, please email Financial Planning. Eligibility:
• Is recommended by a local chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood with a favorable voice vote on the amount of the loan.
• Is a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States or Canada and resides in either country.
• Apply within six to 24 months prior to the graduation or course completion date.
• Is accepted in an accredited US. Canadian postsecondary institution.
• Has a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Meets the minimum credit score of 635
• Does not exceed the indebtedness limit for the degree level
• Has two qualified cosigners for the loan
• Needs financial assistance

Here are a couple of things we have learned along the way about outside scholarships that you should keep in mind:
- Never pay for information about outside scholarships; it’s free on websites such as those mentioned above.
- Many outside scholarships are available only for your first year of college. Sometimes, students enter college with a significant number of outside scholarships, only to have none of those funds after the first year. Be careful and plan accordingly.
