Georgetown College students have the opportunity to be creative and
innovative through professional experiences in visual art, theatre, fashion, and music. With three professional art galleries, Inscape, the student literary publication, The Georgetonian campus newspaper, and a professional theatre, our students participate in and experience fine art on a regular basis.
Endowed lecture series bring noted and accomplished intellectuals, artists, and professionals to campus regularly. Students hear speakers through The Cawthorne Lecture, The Collier/Danford Thomas Memorial Lecture, The George Walker Redding Lecture, and the Foust Artist Series.
These experiences outside the classroom enrich students’ educational experience by exposing them to culture, art, theatre, music, and literature.

About Our Galleries:
The Galleries at Georgetown College are dedicated to exhibiting quality works of visual art through both permanent and temporary exhibitions, representing a wide variety of media and techniques. The Jacobs Gallery, The John C. and Marcia M. Cochenour Gallery, and Anne Wright Wilson Fine Art Gallery create opportunities and experiences with multiple levels of engagement for Georgetown College students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community.
ANNE WRIGHT WILSON FINE ART GALLERY
The Anne Wright Wilson Fine Arts Gallery brings artwork by new, emerging, or experimental artists from all over the world to Georgetown College. Located in the Fine Arts Building, the Wilson Gallery is not only an incredible exhibition space but also allows visiting artists to interact with students during installation. The Wilson Gallery is 2,028 square feet with 16-foot ceilings. To submit a proposal for an exhibition in the Wilson, please visit our Exhibitions and Public Art Proposals page.

The Dr. Donald L. and Dorothy Jacobs Gallery exhibits and collects fine arts objects, including modern works and antiquities, and provides a permanent setting in which students and the community can view and learn about art.

COCHENOUR GALLERY
The John C. and Marcia M. Cochenour Gallery brings artwork by new, emerging, or experimental artists worldwide to Georgetown College. Located in the Ensor Learning Resource Center and adjacent to the Jacobs Gallery, the Cochenour Gallery is an intimate exhibition space. The Cochenour garners foot traffic from students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.

EXHIBITION PROPOSALS
Georgetown College reviews proposals for exhibitions in the Anne Wright Wilson Fine Arts Gallery and the John C. and Marcia M. Cochenour Gallery on an annual cycle. Submissions are due by January 1 to be considered for an exhibition the following school year.
Exhibitions are scheduled for one to three months, with the new schedule aligned with the school year. Group and solo exhibitions are possible, and all media are considered. Georgetown College encourages exhibiting artists to give talks and/or critiques for students.
To submit a proposal, provide 6 to 10 digital images; an image list with title, media, dimensions, and date for each work; a resume; and an artist statement. Information can be sent by mail to: Director of Art Galleries and Curator of Collections, 400 East College Street, Georgetown, KY 40324 or via email with “Call for Artists” in the subject line.
PERFORMING ARTS
The Ruth Pearce Wilson Lab Theatre, built in 1975, is an intimate performance space and serves as the primary venue for our beloved Maskrafters, the oldest continuous collegiate theatre troupe in Kentucky. The Maskrafters celebrated 100 years in 2024 with a production of Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest,” also the first play ever performed at GC. That first performance was held by 30 students and faculty members who founded Maskrafters and has subsequently been performed every ten years in their honor.
Today, the Maskrafters present 2-4 performances a year. Some of the most recent performances include “Silence: A Thirteenth Century Medieval Adventure” in the Fall of 2023, “The Importance of Being Earnest” in 2024, “”Business Lunch At The Russian Tea Room” and “The Actor’s Nightmare” in the Spring of 2026, “Pillowman” in the Fall of 2025, “One Christmas Eve at Evergreen Mall” in the Winter of 2025, and “24 Plays for 24 Presidents” in the Spring of 2026.
FOUST ARTIST SERIES
This is a signature series designed to spark creativity and enrich our campus and the community through world-class performances and presentations. Past events include Choir MUSE, Comedian Jake Hovis, Vince DiMartino and Miles Osland Jazz Orchestra, Maze “Magic Refined”, “SandStory” by Joe Castillo, and The Russian String Orchestra.

The Georgetonian
The Georgetonian Newspaper was established on Georgetown College’s campus in 1912. For more than 100 years, The Georgetonian Newspaper has provided weekly news and breaking stories to the campus.
Today, it is a free weekly newspaper published most Fridays during the academic calendar by Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY. Its contents are written and edited by current students of Georgetown College.
Inscape Magazine
Inscape is a publication of the fiction, poetry, and critical essays of Georgetown College students. It is produced by students who are members of the Eta Alpha chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the national English honor society. Eta Alpha is one of the original seven founding chapters of the organization and has been active at Georgetown College since 1924. The contents of Inscape represent the views of the individual authors and are not necessarily the views of Georgetown College, the members of the English department, or the magazine’s editors.

The Cawthorne Lecture is presented each spring by the winner of the Don and Chris Kerr Cawthorne Award, which is the highest honor the College gives for teaching excellence.

GEORGE WALKER REDDING LECTURE
The George Walker Redding Lecture series was created to inspire the spirit, challenge and expand the mind, and encourage further study. It continues to bring some of the best-known and widely published Christian scholars to our campus. In honor of Dr. George Walker Redding, a Georgetown College graduate (1927) and a member of the Georgetown College faculty for thirty years (1943-1973), teaching primarily in Bible and chairing the Bible Department. He was known for his good humor, concern for students, and high academic standards. The College awarded him an Alumni Achievement Award in 1973, an honorary doctorate in 1981, and inducted him into the GC Hall of Fame in 1997.

DANFORD THOMAS/COLLIER MEMORIAL LECTURES
The Danford Thomas Memorial Lecture Foundation was established in 1920 by Rhodes B. Thomas, a local banker, farmer, and Georgetown College Trustee, in memory of his father, who served as a professor of Greek and Latin at the College from 1839 to 1882. Danford Thomas was also the College’s first librarian. The purpose of the lecture series is to further the historic interests and ideals of the College as an institution belonging to and representing the Baptist churches of Kentucky.
The Collier Lecture is funded by the late James M. Collier, originally from Crab Orchard, Kentucky. Mr. Collier is a longtime supporter, former trustee, and instructor at Georgetown College. In selecting programs, the Committee shall attempt to bring individuals and/or groups to the campus who would have a wide appeal to the Georgetown College community.

CHARLES HATFIELD MEMORIAL LECTURE
The annual event highlights prominent figures and cutting-edge advances in science and chemistry. This series honors Dr. Hatfield, a 1940 summa cum laude graduate of Georgetown College with a degree in mathematics.
