FAQs

WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE GEORGETOWN COLLEGE?

A LIBERAL ARTS FOUNDATION: Students exploring what they want to do or unsure about where the world is heading can find their passion before committing to a major because of our GC Foundations and Core Education. This core experience, which every GC graduate participates in, teaches genuine human skills such as creativity, empathy, critical thinking, adaptability, and judgment. We want your student to find their passion while at GC and leave GC with a purpose.

EXCEPTIONAL OPPORTUNITIES: We offer six Programs of Distinction. These programs give students the opportunity to travel the world, learn with professionals in their fields, present at professional events, and graduate with a leg up in the market. We offer many study abroad programs where students can earn credit while exploring different cultures around the world.

OUR FACULTY: Students learn from faculty who hold advanced degrees from respected institutions yet dedicate themselves primarily to teaching and mentoring undergraduates, and thanks to Georgetown’s small campus, students get to work one-on-one with professors who thrive on that mentorship—often staying in touch with them long after graduation.

OUR STAFF: Students naturally connect with our friendly staff, coaches, and administrators. They enjoy daily interactions, whether at The Caf, at athletic practices, during intramural games, or at our many campus events. These everyday moments help students forge meaningful relationships, boost their confidence, and make college feel warm and welcoming—like home rather than just a school.

FAQs: ADMISSIONS, FINANCIAL AID AND TUITION

WHAT IS THE COST PER SEMESTER?

Every student admitted to GC receives a merit scholarship, so no one pays full price. The amount a student pays depends on factors like academic record, activities, accomplishments, and financial need. You can estimate GC’s cost using our net price calculator, but since the application is free, we recommend applying. Until you submit your FAFSA, it’s hard to determine the exact cost for your situation.

WHAT IS THE AVERAGE LOAN AMOUNT A STUDENT WILL HAVE TO REPAY AFTER GRADUATION?

For the most recent graduating class, the average loan amount taken out in their name is $31,000.

WHAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS?

Most of our scholarships are tied to programs, which can have different deadlines. Check out our Scholarships and Honors page here.

FAQs: ACADEMICS

WHAT IS THE GRADUATION RATE FOR GC?

The federal government requires schools to track a six-year rate. Georgetown’s six-year rate is close to 60%, with about 50% graduating in four years. Our four-year rate is nearly double the KY state average and higher than most private schools, meaning students pay less for a GC education, even if GC costs more per semester. Many students also graduate early.

WHAT IS THE RETENTION RATE FOR GC?

The retention rate is the percentage of first-year students who return for the second year. GC’s ten-year retention rate is between 70% and 75%, which is considerably above the average, even for small private schools.

WHAT IS THE POST-GRADUATION EMPLOYMENT OR GRADUATE SCHOOL RATE?

We have an average of 94% among recent graduates.
