Independent Honors

The Independent Honors track challenges students to discover and develop their intellectual strengths and purpose by completing a personalized honors curriculum designed in consultation with an honors adviser.

Independent Honors students receive an annual $4,000 scholarship for participating in the program.

GUIDANCE

Independent Honors students work closely with the Program Director to fulfill requirements in ways that support their academic and intellectual development.

DESIGN

As Juniors, Independent Honors students design and complete a non-traditional honors experience for credit. For example, Jaqui Johns ’17 worked with Kentucky Refugee Ministries to fulfill this requirement and prepare to write her honors thesis.

FLEXIBILITY

Interested Independent Honors students may switch to the Oxford or Science Honors Track with the director’s consent.
