Nursing Arts

This dual degree program allows students to earn a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biomedical Sciences with Nursing Arts from Georgetown College and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Kentucky College of Nursing. All students complete their foundational coursework at Georgetown College in 5 semesters, with small classes and personalized instruction. From there, students have two options for completing their nursing degree at UK. The Traditional BSN path requires 5 additional semesters of classroom, laboratory, and supervised clinical instruction. The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) path requires 3 additional semesters plus one summer (16 months total) of online classes with in-person labs and clinicals.

Each academic year, UK reserves 5 seats in the Traditional BSN and 16 seats in the ABSN programs for Georgetown College students who successfully meet the admissions requirements. Additional students may be admitted when seats are available in the respective program. Alternatively, Georgetown students may attend other schools of nursing after graduation from Georgetown College, but no special arrangements have been made with other schools.

Student Testimonials

“This program allowed me to develop wonderful relationships with my professors at GC and take advantage of the small class sizes they have to offer. My classes at GC prepared me for the workload of nursing school and taught me the proper way to study.” — Peyton Blanton ‘15

“GC’s biology department provided the groundwork for my nursing career. The small classes allowed me to thrive in a more intimate setting and get to know my professors and classmates without ever feeling inadequate or lost in the crowd.” — Leeann McKenna Spivey ‘11
