Studying French language and culture prepares students for graduate school, teaching, international business, travel, social work, foreign missions, and volunteer work with agencies like the Peace Corps and Doctors Without Borders. Language study also complements nearly any other field. French students may pursue a Language and International Studies (LIS) major and should consider studying abroad.
To get off to the right start in the course that matches your language ability, students with two years of high school French, level II or higher, should register for FRE 102 offered in the spring semester. Students with three or more years who feel comfortable with the language should enroll in FRE 201 in the Fall. Bonjour et bienvenue à Georgetown College!
Note: Minors will achieve the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages level of Intermediate High.
