Rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors with a strong interest in Math and/or Science, there’s a camping experience at Georgetown College that could change your life. Due to the many snow-related school closings earlier this year, the deadline for both student-campers and teacher participants has been extended to April 26.

The 20th annual PAEMS (Pre-College Academic Experience in Mathematics and Science) Camp is a 12-day residential academic experience (June 20-July 2) held on the beautiful, historic campus of Georgetown College offers modules in astronomy, biology, chemistry, environmental science, and mathematics.

The cost of the camp is $700, but need-based grants are available. The PAEMS program is committed to making the camp available to all interested and deserving students, regardless of their current financial situation.

High school science and math teachers are invited to apply to the Teacher Participant Program of PAEMS, a wonderful opportunity to both observe and assist while picking up valuable enrichment ideas for their classes.

Five teachers will be chosen (one for each camp subject – Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Mathematics). Teacher Participants will be awarded a $1,000 stipend and a full $700 need-based grant for one student from their high school to attend PAEMS. So, students – TELL your favorite Math or Science teacher to apply…and, of course, choose YOU!

Applications can be downloaded from the camp’s website: www.georgetowncollege.edu/departments/paems . You can also request an application from the camp’s coordinator, Dr. William Harris, by calling 502-863-7921 or emailing paems@georgetowncollege.edu.

Please register soon – as nothing would please us more than to have camp filled with the wonderful sons and daughters of alumni! Due to snow-related school closings earlier this year, the deadline for both student-campers and teacher participants has been extended to April 26.
