blood donorsGeorgetown College senior point guard Katie Filiatreau, left, recently enlisted the help of teammate Ausha Weathers, a sophomore from Scott County, and Chamber of Commerce president Christie Hockensmith to promote this weekend’s American Red Cross Blood Drive – a Beat Those Other Tigers competition.

Mid-South Conference rival Campbellsville University is holding its own drive in conjunction with Saturday’s games here (women at 2 p.m., men at 4 p.m.)

All Georgetown fans are encouraged to give blood Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the College’s Student Center Hall of Fame Room, or Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Walk-ins will be accepted, but call Sports Information Director Resa Browning for (preferred) appointments at 863-7972.

Katie, who had a very selective internship at International Red Cross headquarters in Washington D.C. last summer, said the “winning drive” should be revealed at halftime of the men’s game. The Hockensmith Insurance Agency sponsors the Student Athlete of the Week feature in the Georgetown News-Graphic.
