About the Galleries

The Galleries at Georgetown College are dedicated to exhibiting quality works of visual art through both permanent and temporary exhibitions, representing a wide variety of media and techniques. The Jacobs Gallery, The John C. and Marcia M. Cochenour Gallery, and Anne Wright Wilson Fine Art Gallery create opportunities and experiences with multiple levels of engagement for Georgetown College students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community.

Cochenour Gallery

Summary: 

The John C. and Marcia M. Cochenour Gallery brings artwork by new, emerging, or experimental artists worldwide to Georgetown College. Located in the Ensor Learning Resource Center and adjacent to the Jacobs Gallery, the Cochenour Gallery is an intimate exhibition space. The Cochenour garners a lot of foot traffic from students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors. The Cochenour Gallery is 360 square feet with 8-foot ceilings. Exhibition Proposals

Body

Georgetown College reviews proposals for exhibitions in the Anne Wright Wilson Fine Arts Gallery and the John C. and Marcia M. Cochenour Gallery on a yearly cycle. Submissions are due by January 1st to be considered for an exhibition the following school year.

Exhibitions are scheduled for one through three months with the new schedule set in line with the school year. Group and solo exhibitions are possible and all media will be considered. Georgetown College encourages exhibiting artists to give talks and/or critiques for students.

To submit a proposal, please provide between 6 to 10 digital images; an image list with title, media, dimensions, and date for each work; a resume; and an artist statement. Information can be sent by postal mail to: Director of Art Galleries and Curator of Collections, 400 E. College Street, Georgetown, KY 40324. Or, submit via e-mail to: [email protected] with “Call for Artists” in the subject line. For packets sent by postal mail, please include your e-mail address as well as a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you would like materials returned.

  • January 1 – Submission receipt deadline

  • Mid-February – Results e-mailed to artists

All of the galleries are located on Georgetown College’s campus and are free and open to the public. The Jacobs Gallery and Cochenour Gallery are open Monday through Saturday, 12pm to 4:30pm, and the Wilson Gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday, 12pm to 4:30pm. If you would like to schedule a tour or visit outside of hours, please contact our gallery director.
