Health Insurance Required for all International Students
All international students attending Georgetown College are required to purchase a student health insurance plan that provides adequate coverage. Copies of the college-recommended plan are available from the Student Wellness Center or in the Student Center in various locations. Alternate plans must be approved by the Director of the Student Wellness Center. Appeals may be made to the Vice President for Student Affairs.
The student has 7 calendar days from the beginning of the first semester of residence at the college to provide proof of coverage. Proof of coverage will be a copy of the insurance identification card or proof of purchase, which will be kept on file in the Student Wellness Center. The student must be covered by student health insurance for the entire calendar year (for example, August 23 of one year to August 23 of the next year) and for the entire time he or she is enrolled at the college.
If the international student does not demonstrate proof of coverage by the required date, the student will be administratively withdrawn from enrollment and cancelled from the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) Student Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).
