Ambassadors of Diversity

The objective of the Ambassadors of Diversity is to stimulate the ambition of its members, allowing them to develop into strong leaders. AD serves as a support group for African American students on Georgetown’s campus, and aims to increase cultural awareness through campus programs, speakers, and activities. It is the goal of AD to aid in the development and enhancement of Georgetown College minority students. Increase minority student involvement and leadership opportunities in campus organizations and activities. Give minority students the opportunity to acquire leadership skills through working with the administration of Georgetown College and holding leadership positions, aid minority students in gaining experience, instruction in job interviewing and employment, and aid in recruitment of minority students to Georgetown College’s campus.

Georgetown College student Philosophy Club. It is open to majors and non-majors of Philosophy. This group hosts 1-2 informal events each semester. They gather to enjoy each other’s company and to talk philosophy.

Christian Leaders Scholars Program

While the group is officially made up of CLS scholarship recipients, the events are open to all students who are interested in Christian leadership. CLS hosts various formal and informal events – banquets, retreats, CLS talks, and picnics – throughout the year with the purpose of understanding and fostering vocation and calling as Christians. It is also instrumental in promoting the Vocation’s Seminar classes that are taught in the spring. Make plans to participate in any or all of these activities!

This organization meets monthly, planning social outings and community service events, and forming an intramural team for various sports. This is an organization for residential and commuter students.
Dance Marathon

Dance Marathon is a new student organization on campus but is one of 150 Dance Marathons nationwide. Dance Marathon is a yearlong effort to support the Children’s Miracle Network and our Children’s Miracle Network hospital: Kentucky Children’s Hospital. At the end of year, we celebrate the money raised and the lives we saved with our 17 hour 87 minute Dance Marathon celebration!! This event is a combination of a pep rally, dance party, and the most fun you’ll ever have! We have music: live acts and a DJ, dancing, games: twister tournaments, video game tournaments activities: photo booths, and many many more. We invite the entire campus, community, and most importantly Children’s Miracle Network Miracle Families to celebrate together.

The Equine Scholars Program prepares students for professional careers in the quine industry utilizing their first-class liberal arts education. Scholars participate in numerous events, field trips, conferences, lectures, job shadowing, internships, and networking opportunities to learn about careers and issues in, and related to, the horse industry. The program is open to all majors, and is non-breed, non-discipline specific.

The Global Scholars Program draws students who have an enthusiastic desire to augment their academic study by merging it with global experiences, thus developing their ability to meet the present opportunities and future challenges of the global community. The program provides a platform for growth beginning in the students’ first year at Georgetown College and prepares them to find their place in the global society. Upon graduation, Global Scholars will have participated in four years of programming and activities that will give them exposure to different cultures and help them become leaders in our global community.

Institutional Review Board
All research investigation involving human subjects, conducted by faculty, staff, or students under the auspices or financial support of Georgetown College, must be reviewed and approved by the Institutional Review Board for Review of Research Involving Human Subject (IRB), or be declared exempt from the review by that board. The IRB operates under the policies and procedures of the colleges, established to insure compliance with the National Research Act (P. L. 93-348) and the regulations set forth in Part 46 of Title 45 of the Code of Federal Regulations (45 CFR 46). The purpose of IRB review is to protect the rights and personal privacy of individuals and assure a favorable climate for conducting scientific inquiry.

The Pre-Health Association is open to any student interested in a health care field including medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician assistant, nursing, and more. We exist as part of the Society of Healing Arts, an organization consisting of Georgetown College alumni and friends whose careers are in health and/or health-related professions. Our mission is to provide mentoring and leadership for current and former Georgetown students interested in health and health-related fields. Working together with academic advisors and professionals in the community we are able to help guide students toward their future careers in health care.

The President’s Ambassador program was established in 1992 to encourage exemplary students to become actively involved in the development and promotion of the college and to offer additional leadership training opportunities. There are many benefits for the students who are selected to become President’s Ambassadors, such as opportunities to improve public speaking and social skills, opportunities to chauffeur the president and represent the college at various engagements, and opportunities for domestic and international travel.
The Ambassadors consist of twenty-two students each of whom represents a former president of the college. Faculty and staff are invited to nominate students who best represent the mission and ideals of Georgetown College. Ambassadors must have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average and junior or senior status. They should have demonstrated outstanding leadership and public speaking abilities. Students are nominated by faculty and staff members and Dr. Crouch makes the final appointments.
Psychology Bowl Team

Psychology Bowl is the name for the statewide competition held during the Kentucky Psychological Association annual meeting. GRE-level questions from the field of psychology are presented to college teams during this single elimination tournament. Our five member team practices two hours each week during the Fall semester and competes in November. Previous members have commented that the psychology bowl experience helped them earn higher psychology GRE scores and furthered their understanding of and interest in psychology. Anyone interested in psychology is eligible to participate.

United Nations Georgetown is an eclectic group of International and American Georgetown students who have a passion for engaging themselves in the affairs of the world. Our members attend weekly meetings to discuss world topics, strengthen the bonds of friends around the world, and plan cultural events to engage GC students. A few of our past events include off-campus activities such as visits to ethnic restaurants, soccer games, and salsa dancing. UNG is ideal for students who have an interest in studying abroad and expanding their comfort zones.
