Leaders Positions in Residence Life
Resident Director (RD)
Resident Directors are Student Life staff members that seek to serve the students in Georgetown College Residence Halls. With service in mind, it will be their goal to maintain their Residence Hall with the supervisory support of an Area Coordinator and the Director of Residence Life. The Resident Director will first and foremost seek to foster a strong sense of community among their residents. Furthermore, the Resident Director will be responsible for many tasks including programming, administrative tasks, emergency interventions, setting boundaries for the students within their building, and as well the advising and mentoring of Resident Advisors. The position of Resident Director is a leadership position requiring a strong dedication to residence life.
Resident Advisor (RA)
Resident Advisors are full-time students whose schedule allows them to
additionally serve as staff members in the Residence Halls. Students on
academic probation or students who have experienced discipline problems in
the preceding semester can not serve as RA's. RA's must support the basic
purposes and objectives of the College and Residential Life, and their
lifestyle should be in accordance with the College handbook. Prospective
candidates must be full-time undergraduate students who have lived in the
residence halls for at least one full semester with a minimum 2.5 GPA. The
goal of the RA will be to assist the Resident Director in creating a living
and learning environment, conducive to positive community interactions among
the residents. Furthermore, responsibilities will include on- duty
rotations, a weekly report turned into the RD, programming, and a large
amount of time will be devoted to building personal relationships with
residents.
