Leaders Positions in Campus Ministries
President
The president will be selected before the team so that he/she can assist in the selection process. President applications are available in the campus ministry office.
- Works with the campus ministers to plan weekly team meetings and leadership retreats
- Shepherds and cares for each of the team members
- Helps communication flow between the leadership team and the campus ministers
- Represents campus ministry at campus, community, and state events
- Enlists students to participate in KBC retreats and gatherings
- Helps develop a vision for the ministry and assists in setting goals and direction for the team
- Presides over the weekly team meeting
Missions
- Sets up and publicizes missions interview opportunities for GC students
- Oversees planning, publicizing, and forming of spring break mission trips
- Includes testimonies and missions emphasis at Common Ground and other campus venues
- Links students with missionaries in residence and their ministry
- Helps plan commissioning services for spring break and summer missionaries
- Finds ways to solicit prayer support for our missions efforts
- Organizes care packages/notes for our summer missionaries
Missions Fundraising
- Finds creative and effective ways to raise money for summer missions contributions to the KBC
- Finds new ways to raise money for missions scholarships over and above our KBC goal
- Helps campus ministers allocate missions scholarship money to students who apply
- Uses fundraising as an opportunity to teach others about what missions are, who are student missionaries are, how they are serving, etc.
- Finds ways to teach students about stewardship of their money, time, talents, etc.
Creative Ministry
- Selects leaders for each creative ministry team and "revival" or youth team
- Helps team leaders enlist members, set practices, performance pieces, etc.
- Publicizes and books opportunities for teams to perform/lead
- Works with church relations person (HK Kingkade) to support churches as needed
- Plans workshops/retreats for these ministry teams to bond and train together
Community Missions
- Finds student leaders for each local mission and helps them develop a team (currently Scroggins Park and Western Elementary tutoring & nursing home ministry- others may be developed)
- Works with service learning and Anthony Rupard to coordinate campus wide efforts with these places
- Attends mission sites on a regular basis
- Encourages and supports the leaders of each team
- Attends community meetings about local needs students might fill
- Seeks to support students who have a passion about starting up new opportunities to serve
Worship
- Plans Common Ground
- Works with Common Ground band to design worship experiences
- Creates and operates audio visuals for Common Ground
- Gets regular feedback and ideas from students for Common Ground
- Initiates a prayer team for Common Ground
- Helps in contacting and coordinating speakers for Common Ground
Communications/ Public Relations
- Responsible for internal communications among the leadership team and others involved in campus ministry as well as regular publications of campus ministry to the broader campus community.
- Responsible for taking minutes and attendance at leadership team meetings and for keeping an updated calendar of Campus Ministry events and passing on that information to the Master Calendar of GC, Lori, and the website
- Will enlist his/her team members to cover the following
responsibilities:
- Collecting, printing and distributing announcements for Common
Ground
Creating and distributing The Throne - Video, Photography and Media production for campus ministry
- Maintaining and updating the Campus Ministry Website- working with Lori Taylor, administrative asst.
- Producing posters, banners, and other publicity for events of campus ministry as requested
- Conveying news worthy information and stories to our campus P.R. Department and the Georgetonian
- Collecting, printing and distributing announcements for Common
Ground
Freshman Family Groups
- Selects and mentors parents who mentor freshman
- Selects Bible study material and equips the parents
- Plans the Sept. New Year Retreat
- Oversees the Freshman Leadership Council in the Spring
- Plans fellowship and training for parents
- Helps network freshman into other areas of Campus Ministry
- Helps introduce students to the multiplication/discipleship concept
Outreach (Outreach, hospitality, fellowship, and special events)
- Seeks to touch all segments of the campus with campus ministry
- Holds the leadership team accountable to developing a hospitable, kind and servant-minded attitude towards those on our campus who are not involved in campus ministry
- Develops a team to assist with the following:
- Encouraging staff, faculty, students through notes, visits, etc.
- Training students to share their testimony and the Gospel with unbelievers
- Providing opportunities for fellowship and community building (can partner with other groups on campus to co-sponsor)
- Enlisting students to reach out to specific segments of our campus (ex. Athletes, Freshmen residence Halls, etc.)
- Developing a team for planning and implementation of Synergy spiritual renewal emphasis each Spring
Spiritual Formation
- Develops ways to urge students to be conformed into the likeness of
Christ. Helps encourage the spiritual growth of the Leadership Team.
Enlists and shepherds a team of students that:
- Implements a prayer ministry and prayer emphases for special events
- Keeps inventory of small groups on campus and seeks to develop leaders for new small groups
- Networks with chaplains of campus organizations
- Plans retreats
- Seeks creative ways to teach spiritual disciplines in different aspects of campus ministry
- Passes on the multiplication and life on life discipleship model to upperclassmen
Social Justice
- Heightens student awareness of issues of oppression, poverty, and injustice in the world and challenges students to consider a Christian response to action
- Reaches out to students who are interested in these issues, but are not involved in other areas of campus ministry
- Forms an International Justice Mission chapter on GC campus
- Enlists faculty and staff to lead small group discussions on Social Justice
- Helps plan campus events such as speakers, films, etc. to involve students in Social Justice
- Finds opportunities for students to serve the poor and oppressed in our local community
