Emerging Leaders
The Emerging Leaders Program gives students the opportunity to fill out one application for 9 different leadership opportunities on campus.
Would you like to take your involvement on campus to the next level? Student Life would like to help familiarize you with some of the leadership positions on campus. We have now created a centralized process for you to apply for several leadership positions.
The offices within student life are collaborating in regards to gauging student involvement/over-involvement. Through some of those conversations as well as seeing a successful Leadership Consolidation program at another institution (Wentworth Institute of Technology, Boston, MA), Georgetown College Student Life has decided to implement an Emerging Leaders Program.
The move to an Emerging Leaders program will be beneficial to both students and staff. We have seen that many of our departments operate out of a similar vision and are duplicating our hiring processes. From a collaboration perspective, professional and student collaboration will increase. The implementation of this program will assist Student Life in:
- increasing our candidate pool
- focusing on fundamental leadership skills
- creating unity among student leaders
The goal of the Emerging Leaders Program is to identify students interested in leadership positions, educate students about leadership opportunities within Student Life, and guide them through the application process.
The following areas are included in the Emerging Leaders Program for the 2008-2009 Academic Year :
- Campus Ministries Leadership Team
- Campus Ministry President
- Freshmen Family Group Parents
- Intramural Supervisors
- Judicial Board Member
- Orientation Leader
- REC Supervisor
