Oasis Ministry for Students

oasis groupWhat the Oasis Ministry on Campus is all about:

The Oasis Ministry is dedicated to help each student to have a Strong Vision—in his/her vocation and calling in life. We recognize the pressure for students to achieve academically, experience a new transition of life on campus, participate in extracurricular activities and to discover the direction for their lives once they leave Georgetown College or LAC (Life After College). Maybe you would like a mentor in the area you have chosen for your vocation. Maybe you would just like to have someone to talk to about your future or a place to relax. Whether you want to meet someone by yourself or with a group, just let us know.

What some of our people are willing to offer:

  • “Help you with your research and use of library databases”
  • “You can come over if you need a place to relax, do laundry or would like a home cooked meal”
  • “Let’s talk about your vocational goals”
  • “I can provide you with transportation if you don’t have a car”
  • “I have a farm that’s great for getting away hunting turkey or deer”
  • “We live on a lake if you need a place to just get away”
  • “If you need to know where to get medical advice, I can help”
  • “I can tutor you in math and bake you a loaf of bread”
  • “We have five acres to come and study and rest…we have gardens, a swing and a gazebo.”
  • “I enjoy working on cars and I’m a good listener.”

In one sentence, Pastoral Ministry is about giving people something greater than the problems they face. The Something Greater is Jesus Christ and the Strong Vision is hope resulting from a resurrected Christ.
