Course Selection
  1. Course Selection Instructions - Read Carefully

After reading these instructions, you will be able to type in your Class Selections and Alternate Choices to create a Tentative Schedule. Use the printed Class Preference Sheet, that you received in your Registration Packet, as a worksheet to work out a schedule. To build your schedule use the Schedule of Classes, the General Education section of the Course Catalog, and the Guide to Selecting Classes.

Below type in the Department, the Course Number, the Section Letter(s), the Beginning Time of each course, and the Days that it meets. Some courses or lab courses have a course number that includes letters such as MUS161LB or SPA102L. Certain course and lab sections have two letters such as MUS162V section VA or SPA102L section LA. You will find some courses that have more than one meeting time such as section A of BIO100. In this case type in only the first beginning time and the first day(s) found on the top line on the supplied Schedule of Classes. When entering the days, T is used for Tuesday and R for Thursday.

IMPORTANT- Each item mentioned above is typed in CAPITAL LETTERS and is separated by the pipe symbol | . Use this format for each course or alternate course that you type on this Class Preference Sheet.

Remember to avoid having any courses that overlap in time on each day; and leave a lunch period open at 11 am,12 noon, or 1 pm. If you are going to participate in a sport during the term you are registering for, you should not register for any courses that meet after 3 pm. Practice for a sport usually begin after 3 pm. Make certain to provide Alternate Courses in case a course is full. A normal course load is 16 hours. Type your selections in the blanks below.

Follow these Examples: BIO|100|A|11:00|MWF or GEL|113L|LB|7:25|R

  2. * Dept.|Number|Section|Time|Days
  3. Alternate courses should be a different course and not just another section of a course listed above. List your selections below in the same way as above (Dept.|Number|Section|Time|Days)

FINAL REMINDER: This may be "THE END" of your online registering for classes, but our office looks forward to helping you in the exciting days ahead as you become a college student. You will be notified of the workshop you will be attending. Welcome to Georgetown College!
