The 11th annual Humphrey Philosophy Colloquium invites papers from outstanding undergraduate students. Â Previous Humphrey Colloquia have afforded promising undergraduate philosophers an invaluable opportunity to experience rigorous but congenial philosophical debate in the kind of conference setting so much a part of professional philosophical life. Â Revisions of outstanding class papers have proved to be a fruitful source of conference papers in the past.
The keynote speaker for this year’s Humphrey Colloquium will be Marilyn Friedman of Vanderbilt University. Â A dinner reception for Colloquium participants will follow the conference at the home of a University of Louisville Philosophy Department member. Â Financial awards are available for student travel and for overnight accommodations in Louisville.
The deadline for submissions is October 12, 2011. Â Students whose papers are selected will be notified prior to the conference.
