The 11th annual Humphrey Philosophy Colloquium invites papers from outstanding undergraduate students. Previous Humphrey Colloquia have afforded promising undergraduate philosophers an invaluable opportunity to experience rigorous but congenial philosophical debate in the kind of conference setting so much a part of professional philosophical life. Revisions of outstanding class papers have proved to be a fruitful source of conference papers in the past.
The keynote speaker for this year’s Humphrey Colloquium will be Marilyn Friedman of Vanderbilt University. A dinner reception for Colloquium participants will follow the conference at the home of a University of Louisville Philosophy Department member. Financial awards are available for student travel and for overnight accommodations in Louisville.
The deadline for submissions is October 12, 2011. Students whose papers are selected will be notified prior to the conference.
