Hillary Thornton, Class of ‘12

While at Georgetown, Hillary worked as an intern for WLEX in Lexington and WKRN in Nashville, Tn. After graduation, she began working for NBC Olympics as part of the 2012 Summer Olympics. She received an Emmy for “Outstanding Live Event Turnaround” for her work as an associate producer. Currently, she is a news reporter for WYMT in Eastern Kentucky. “I use my communication degree from Georgetown College every day. Whether it is how to effectively speak in front of groups and conduct interviews, how to proactively work in a group with coworkers to meet a story deadline, or how to tell a compelling story to viewers. Every situation I’m faced with in my career, I feel confident and prepared due to my education and experiences from Georgetown College.”
