The Master of Theology (MTh) at Oxford University is designed for those students who already have a solid undergraduate degree in religion and who desire to intensify their exploration of theology at the graduate level under the tutelage of Oxford’s well-respected theology faculty. This two year Masters degree will allow students to take courses that cover a wide range of theological interests. The first year requires work in four main subject areas, and the second year will be spent writing a thesis. The second year may be completed back in the United States.
The BA in Religion at Georgetown College
Regent’s Park College requires candidates for admission into the MTh program to have completed an intensive preparation in religion. The standard BA in Religion at Georgetown College has been modified slightly to accomplish this preparation. A Greek language requirement and several other courses both inside and outside the religion department have been added for a total of 60 credit hours rather than the 41 required for the standard BA in Religion. Is this a Joint Degree Program?
Unlike the Joint BA/BTh Degree Program, students complete their entire course of study at Georgetown and graduate prior to candidacy for admission to Regent’s Park College for the MTh. Making application to Regent’s Park College in the University of Oxford would be just like making application to any other graduate school, and Regent’s Park is solely responsible for admissions decisions. With that said, our excellent preparation in religion and our partnership with Regent’s Park College insures that any students who apply from Georgetown College will receive careful attention.
