Timeline
During your senior
year of high school:
1.
Email Dr. Hadaway,
Director of Oxford Programs, to express interest and
to ask any questions you may have.
2. Apply and be accepted to Georgetown
College.
Just after high
school graduation:
1. Submit a completed
application and all supporting materials (see
below) by July 10th. If you need an extension
for some reason, contact the Director of Oxford
Programs.
In the summer prior to enrolling at
Georgetown:
1. You will receive a
letter of notification explaining whether or not
you've been granted an interview for the program.
2. If granted an interview, it will be
scheduled for late summer (the latter part of July
or the early part of August) at Georgetown College.
Interviews will take place with the Director of
Oxford Programs and selected members of the
Georgetown College faculty and staff.
3. Within two weeks of the interview, you will
receive a letter notifying you of acceptance or
rejection.
4. Indicate to the Director of Oxford Programs
whether or not you participate in the program if
accepted.
5. Work with the Director of Oxford Programs
to modify any existing fall schedule of classes to
fit with the needs of the Three Year Accelerated
Degree curriculum.

Qualifications
The Three Year Accelerated Degree involves
extremely challenging academic work.
Successful candidates will be expected to exhibit
excellence (or promise of excellence) in analytical
and interpretive skills, in critical thinking and
writing, in articulacy in written and spoken
presentations, and in creativity and original
thinking. Successful candidates will also
typically enjoy independent learning and love
learning for its own sake.
Though all applications are reviewed regardless of
qualifications, the following markers may help to
establish whether this program is a good fit for
you.
1. Suggested minimum High School GPA: 3.7
(unweighted) or within top 5% of your class.
2. Suggested ACT composite above 30.
3. ACT score or college credit which allows
bypass of ENG 111 (an introductory composition
class)
4. At least six credit hours (and preferably
more) from AP courses, dual high school/college
credit, college summer school, and/or CLEP.
5. Solid performance in language courses in
high school.

Supporting materials to
include with your application:
1. A letter explaining your academic interests
and reasons for desiring entrance into the
Accelerated Degree Program.
2. A letter of recommendation from an AP
teacher, high school guidance counselor, or some
other teacher who can speak well to your academic
capabilities and personal character.
3. A formal writing sample. Samples
which set out and defend some argument are
preferred.
