Zone 3 Competition Next for Equestrian Team

Four Georgetown College Equestrian Team members competed in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 6, Region 3 Championship on February 24 at Lakeside Arena in Frankfort, KY.
Junior Ashley Duvall (right) and freshman Piper Tomlin both earned Reserve Championship titles, in Intermediate Equitation on the Flat and Beginner Walk-Trot Equitation respectively, qualifying both to compete in the Zone 3 Championship to be held April 7 at Otterbein University in Westerville, OH.
The top two riders in each division at the Regional Championship qualify for the Zone Championship, with the top two riders in each division at that competition qualifying for the IHSA National Finals to be held May 3-6 in Harrisburg, PA.
Duvall also earned eighth place at the Regional Championship in Novice Equitation over Fences.
Freshman Abigail Pieczynski and freshman Mackenzie Works also represented Georgetown College at the Regional Championship, both competing in Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter Equitation.
Riders qualify for the Regional Championship by earning points throughout ten regular season competitions. Other competing colleges in Zone 6, Region 3 include Midway University, Morehead State University, Northern Kentucky University, University of Cincinnati, University of Louisville, and University of Kentucky.
The Georgetown College Equestrian Team is a club team that trains at Scheffelridge Farm in Paris, KY and are coached by Nori Scheffel.
