Tigers Honored at Annual Dinner Event

Georgetown College men’s basketball was well represented at the annual Mid-South Conference awards banquet on Thursday, March 1. Three players earned first team all-conference honors, one was named a player of the year, and another was an all-academic honoree.
Shadell Millinghaus, Troy Steward, and Quan Poindester were among ten players in the eight-team league to earn MSC First-Team recognition. All three also picked up various player of the week honors throughout the regular season and received certificates t the banquet.
Millinghaus was named MSC Co-Player of the Year, receiving as many votes as University of Pikeville’s Darrion Leslie. He averaged 22.1 points per game and 8.3 rebounds per game for the season. Inside the 14-game schedule against MSC teams, Millinghaus had 198 ppg and 7.0 rebounds per game. He also earned a 3.25-grade point average to be the lone Tiger on the MSC All-Academic list.
On the hardwood for tournament play on Friday, Georgetown defeated Cumberland University 85-82, thereby advancing to the quarterfinal game. The Tigers were denied on Saturday, however, losing to Lindsey Wilson College 58-80.
The 2018 Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division One Men’s Basketball Championship is next. It gets underway March 14 in Kansas City, Mo.
