The Tiger Symphonic Band will present its annual Fall Anniversary Concert on Monday, November 25th at 8:00 PM in the John L. Hill Chapel on the Georgetown College campus.
The concert entitled “Earth, Wind and Fire” will include … Adagio[Albinoni], American Flourish [Smith], Galactic Fanfare [Standridge], and Gales of November [Hosay] in addition to the traditional performances of the Star-Spangled Banner and the Georgetown College Alma Mater.
Professor of Music and Director of the Tiger Bands, Dr. Pete Larue, said, “I am very excited about our coming Earth, Wind & Fire concert. The students have worked very hard on this very challenging music that we think the audience will really enjoy.”
A special musical highlight of the evening will be featured student euphonium soloist, Tyler Rice, as he performs Morceau Symphonique by Alexandre Guilmant with the Band. Tyler is the son of James and Laura Rice of Williamstown, Kentucky. He is a graduate of Williamstown Independent High School and in addition to being a member of the Band Leadership Team is involved in many other campus organizations including PHA and the IFC.
“It is a real pleasure to be able to feature one of our great band members on the Earth, Wind & Fire concert. Tyler Rice, Euphonium, is an extraordinarily talented musician and is an exceptionally fine young man,” said Dr. Pete Larue.
As has been the custom of the Tiger Bands since 1993, the price of admission to the concert is be a canned or processed food offering, which will be forwarded to the AMEN House for distribution to the less fortunate in the Georgetown/Scott County area during the holiday season. Dr. Pete Larue said, “ It is just a small way, we can help the great community in which we live.”
Following the concert there will be a reception in the foyer of the Chapel for all band scholars, family, and friends.
