The featured speakers for the 2019 Baccalaureate Service and Spring Commencement have been named. Speaking at the 2019 Baccalaureate Service on Friday, May 10th, will be Reverend Robert Fox, Jr.
Bob Fox is a native Kentuckian who grew up in the Baptist tradition. At a young age, while attending St. Matthews Baptist Church in Louisville, he felt a call to ministry and has dedicated his life to it ever since.
A graduate of Centre College, Bob served as pastor at churches in Ohio and Virginia before being called to return to Kentucky and serve as pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Georgetown, KY, where he served for 16 years. Rev. Fox is currently the Executive Coordinator of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Kentucky and also serves as an adjunct in the Religion Department at Georgetown College.
For the 2019 Spring Commencement Service, which will occur on Saturday, May 11th at 10:00 AM, the speaker will be Mr. Mike Lukemire, Class of ’80.
While at Georgetown, Mike was a member of the ACS and served as the Vice President of President’s House Association. He later attended Kraft Executive Management School at Southern Methodist University. After having served in several leadership positions at Scotts Miracle-Gro, Mr. Lukemire was named Chief Operating Officer in December 2014 and assumed expanded duties as President in 2016.
He is responsible for the company’s worldwide portfolio of consumer brands and products and has accountability for overall leadership of all aspects of consumer business including marketing, sales, research and development, and global supply chain.
Mike exemplifies the emphasis on leadership that Georgetown College strives to impress upon its students and shines as a real-life example of this. His approach to building a successful team is grounded in servant leadership and a shared sense of passion, collaboration, trust, and perseverance.
Georgetown College holds a special place in Mike’s heart, as the place where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Chemistry and the place where he met his wife, Mattie Jo (Todd) Lukemire, with whom he has two daughters, Rachel and Courtney.
