Submitted on October 3, 2019

The newest exhibition in the Wilson Fine Arts Gallery has a decidedly local feel. “State of Photography,” which opens Thursday, October 3rd features photography from art professionals and faculty from across Kentucky. An opening reception will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

This year's exhibition, in collaboration with the Louisville Photo Biennial, will include work from artists at University of Kentucky, Transylvania University, Northern Kentucky University, BCTC, Eastern Kentucky University, Lindsey Wilson, Centre College, Morehead State, Western Kentucky University, Bellarmine University, and Campbellsville University.

Gallery Director and Curator of Collections, Samantha Simpson, said, "State of Photography is part of the annual “State of Fine Arts” exhibition series that Georgetown has hosted for the past 8 years and has become an exciting opportunity to showcase the excellent work that is being produced by artists across the state of Kentucky, and to celebrate this work with our peers and colleagues."

On the show, Associate Professor of Art, Darrell Kinder, said, "This year’s exhibition focuses on photography professors. It’s a great way to see what our photo faculty from across the state are producing. It’s also a wonderful opportunity for us to meet with another, making introductions or renewing old friendships – almost like a kind of homecoming."

The opening reception on Thursday evening is free and open to the public.
