Georgetown College Alumnus Named Kentucky German Teacher of the Year

Lucas Gravitt ‘07 was named German Teacher of the Year by the Kentucky chapter of the American Association of Teachers of German. The award was presented at the Kentucky World Language Association fall conference.

Gravitt was nominated by a colleague and fellow German teacher Susan Gudenkauf Carson from John Hardin High School. He has also received the German Embassy Teacher of Excellence Award and the Kentucky World Language New Teacher of the Year Award.

“Lucas Gravitt is an outstanding teacher,” commented Joe Covington, Principal of Scott County High School.  “We are proud he has been awarded this honor and thankful to have him as part of our team.”

For 10 years Gravitt has served as the German teacher at Scott County High School. He earned both a Bachelor of Arts in German Language (2007) and a Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership (2012) from Georgetown College.
