Alumnus named Henry County Middle School Teacher of the Year

Johnathan Rogers, Class of 2013, who teaches 6th-grade math at Henry County Middle School in New Castle has been honored as Henry County Middle’s Teacher of the Year. He is also in the running for Henry County Public Schools Teacher of the Year.
Now in his fourth year of teaching, he serves as assistant band director for the Henry County Public Schools as well. Too, he has been selected to present “Math Conversations Matter” at the 2018 Kentucky Center for Mathematics Conference in March.
“I love GC,” Rogers wrote in an email recently, “and am thankful for all of my former professors and the great opportunities the college has given me.”
After GC, Rogers earned an MA in Applied Mathematics at EKU. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in STEM Education at the University of Kentucky. In addition to teaching middle school math, he is an adjunct math instructor at Sullivan University’s Lexington campus.
