Adkisson, Mills to Lead 2019 Board of Trustees

The 2019 leadership team for the Georgetown College Board of Trustees has been announced.
Mr. Dave Adkisson, Class of 1973, becomes Chairman, and Mr. Bob Mills, Class of 1967, Vice-Chairman on January 1, 2019. Each will serve a one-year term.
Adkisson, a trustee since 2014, is currently President and CEO of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, the Commonwealth’s largest business association. As an undergraduate, he majored in philosophy with a minor in political science and was president of the student body. After leaving Georgetown, he enrolled at Harvard University where he earned a master’s degree in ethics.
At age 34, he was elected mayor of Owensboro; he was re-elected four years later without opposition. In 1999, he was recruited to the presidency of the Birmingham, AL Chamber of Commerce and served for six years before returning to Kentucky.
He and his wife, the former Bonnie Ramsey, Class of 1975, have two children and three grandchildren. They reside in Lexington.
The vice-chairman-elect, Bob Mills, has been a trustee since 2017. He spent 40 years in executive and director positions at two of America’s largest banks, US Bank and PNC Financial Group. The son of a former Georgetown College president, the late Dr. Robert Mills, Bob graduated summa cum laude with a double major in history and English and a double minor in biology and philosophy.
He was president of his sophomore class, vice president of Lambda Chi Alpha, recipient of the first Carl R. Fields History Award, and past president (’93-’94) of the Georgetown College Alumni Association. He was awarded a four-year fellowship in American History at Indiana University where he completed the master’s degree in 1969. In 1977, he completed the MBA degree at the University of Cincinnati and in 1984 he completed a banking degree at Rutgers University.
A U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran as a French translator in intelligence, Mills and his wife, the former Margaret Donaldson, Class of 1969, reside in Owenton. They are the parents of one adult son and have three grandchildren.
