Georgetown College football celebrates the end of 2017 spring practices with the annual Orange & Black scrimmage Thursday. Senior captains divided up the teams Tuesday evening and in the 120th game, Orange will be looking to even the series once again. Black leads 60-59. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the gates open at 6 p.m. Admission is free.

The evening will also give the entire Tiger athletic department a chance to honor, recognize, and celebrate another banner year by presenting the GC Awards – acknowledgment of all the hard work, dedication, and success of all student-athletes and coaches with special awards voted on by the student body.

Four awards will be handed out at each of the breaks – between first and second quarter, at halftime, and third and fourth quarters.

Coach Bill Cronin will also have his 2018 rookie class in attendance. This is the first chance for Tiger Nation to welcome them as a group.

Earlier this year, the Tigers learned their 2017 schedule with the new divisional alignments fixed in the expanded Mid-South Conference. The team will face two new opponents this coming season.

The No. 25 Tigers will host five games and hit the road for five with an open date still lingering as a potential added game. Georgetown starts the season at Faulkner University on Sept. 2. The team follows that up with home games against two new MSC affiliate members – Southeastern University and Point University.

GC then travels to Bluefield College, before opening Bluegrass Divisional play against Cumberland University at Toyota Stadium on Sept. 30. The Tigers travel to Bethel University on Oct. 7 and follow that with a mid-season open date. Then GC hosts Kentucky Christian University before meeting Campbellsville University and Lindsey Wilson College in road games.

The team wraps up regular season play with a home date against Cincinnati Christian University.

MSC is up to 20 teams through affiliate memberships.

Edward Waters College, Ave Maria University, Southeastern, Warner University, Webber International University, Point, and St. Andrews University will join the mix that also added Cincinnati Christian this past fall.

The first five schools mentioned are paired with Faulkner to form the Sun Division. Georgetown will be in the Bluegrass with Bethel, Campbellsville, Cincinnati Christian, Cumberland, Kentucky Christian, and Lindsey Wilson. The Appalachian Division is made up of Bluefield, University of the Cumberlands, University of Pikeville, Point, Reinhardt University, St. Andrews University, and Union College.
