Tiger stack wordsGEORGETOWN, Ky. – Georgetown College athletics announces its new partnership with Glicod Communications for radio broadcasts of football and select women’s and men’s basketball – 30 games total – during the 2014-2015 season.

The partnership with Gilcod, a marketing company based in Louisville, puts games on commercial radio covering Lexington, Louisville and northern Kentucky, and provides streaming audio to enable alumni and friends listening anywhere to hear the games.

All Tiger football games are to be broadcast over WCGW 770 AM radio covering central and northern Kentucky and WFIA 94.7 FM radio covering Louisville and much of southern Indiana. The new radio deal also includes some basketball games but an exact schedule has not as yet been determined.

The football season opener is Saturday, September 13, against Bethel University. Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m. at Toyota Stadium.

“We are really excited about this deal with Glicod,” said GC director of athletics Brian Evans.

“It is an opportunity to put us back on radio, which we’ve been away from for the past five years, and still stream an Internet audio broadcast to our larger fan base.”

Chris Labar

Taking over as play-by-play lead for all the radio games will be Glicod’s Chris Labar. Jason Grefer will be color commentator.

“Glicod’s mission is to extend media coverage for small colleges as well as high schools in Indiana and Kentucky,” Labar said.

“We are really excited to have Georgetown on board and seeing this partnership flourish for both of us.”

The partnership also brings the GC coaches’ show back to radio with a live broadcast every Monday at 8 p.m. from Buffalo Wild Wings in Georgetown, beginning September 8. The 30-minute coaches’ show will be heard live and streamed online only on Lexington’s WJMM 99.1 FM, a sister station to WCGW.

A link on the Georgetown College athletics Web site will direct listeners to streaming audio for the game broadcasts and for the coaches’ show.
