GEORGETOWN, Ky. – Kaleb Lester, a senior from Carrboro High School in Carrboro, N.C., inked his letter of intent to sign with the Tigers last week.
“He’s played on some major courses and in some major competitions,” GC coach Flash Williams said. “I’m extremely pleased he signed with us and am looking forward to some very good things in the near future for our men’s team.”
Lester finished in the Top 10 of his home 2A State Championship recently, which was played on the Longleaf Golf Course at none other than historic Pinehurst. A little over a year ago as a junior he played at Florida’s World Golf Village in the Junior American tournament that had 78 golfers from 20 countries. He also has played Pebble Beach, a course which might sound familiar to even the causal golf enthusiast.
Lester was a four-year golfer at CHS. He was named the 2014 Player of the Year in the Mid-State Conference and was also a medalist at the NCHSAA 2A Mideast Regional Championship.
He will join sophomore Madison Huegel, who had a standout freshman campaign at Georgetown. Couple these two with some veterans and the Tigers could do some damage as a team and individually in the 2014-15 season.
