GEORGETOWN, Ky. – Georgetown College sophomore Lydia Blaise Allen will compete for the title at the annual Miss Kentucky scholarship pageant in Lexington next month.
The three-day event includes a talent and on-stage interview on Thursday, July 10, and evening gown and swimsuit competition on Friday, July 11. Pageant finals will be held at the University of Kentucky Singletary Center on Saturday, July 12, at 7 p.m.
A Psychology and Communication and Media Studies major, Miss Allen qualified for the Miss Kentucky pageant by being crowned Miss Metro Louisville at the Miss Ohio Valley Scholarship Pageant held in March in Louisville.
At Georgetown College, the Global, Christian Leaders and Oxford Scholar participates in the Honors Program, is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and the GC Dance Team, serves on the Dance Marathon GC Executive Board, and is a Governor’s Scholars scholarship recipient. During the upcoming 2014-2015 academic year, she will hold leadership positions with the college’s Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Organization and Campus Accountability Board.
A 2013 summa cum laude graduate of Beechwood High School, Fort Mitchell, Ky., she was also Kenton County’s 2013 Distinguished Young Woman.
Miss Allen is daughter of Scott and Ria Allen of Covington, Ky.
