GEORGETOWN, KY – The Georgetown College Equestrian Team (GCET) is proud to share success stories from a competition season full of growth and development.
Founded in 2011, GCET was started by Jeanne Shearer (Class of 2012) and Ashlyn Keelin (Class of 2012). In their third year of competition, the team reached a new level of success.
We are proud to announce that Jennifer Gelatt, current Team Captain and Sophomore from Burlington Flats, New York, won several classes over fences, earned a High Point award at one event, and qualified for and competed at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Regional Show this year. She is the first rider ever from Georgetown College to earn a highpoint award and to qualify and compete at the IHSA Regional Show.
Jennifer’s success reflects the dedication to development carried out by the entire team this season. For the first time, the team managed and executed fundraising efforts which included a silent auction and bake sale. Another notable first included the team representing the College at more events than ever, with every participating rider earning a ribbon in multiple classes.
We are looking forward to a competitive 2014-2015 season. The team is gearing up to qualify additional riders for IHSA Regionals next year, in hopes of sending several to IHSA Zones for IHSA National qualification.
We would also like to take this opportunity to extend our deepest thanks to the GCET Coach, Nori Scheffel of Scheffelridge Farm, and to Rodney and Jill England for supporting and feeding the team at every event.
