GEORGETOWN, KY – Georgetown College Maskrafters, Kentucky’s oldest collegiate theatre troupe, presents “Last Night Karaoke,” the revival of a musical comedy written and produced by George McGee, professor of theatre and film, September 22-24, in Wilson Lab Theatre on College Street. Curtain at 7:30 p.m. All seats $3. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the college bookstore after September 15 or at the door prior to each performance.
Directed by senior Music major Shay McCleavy from Brandenburg, Ky., “Last Night Karaoke” is the story of the final night at Nick Cavalenni’s family restaurant where every Thursday for years has been karaoke night. Patrons and friends gather not just for the end of Nick’s, but also to mark the end of karaoke night, since the restaurant is due to be replaced by an upscale wine bar. But on this night, a $500 prize for the winner of the karaoke contest could change the future of Nick’s.
Numerous student actors and actresses have roles in “Last Night Karaoke.” Sam Adams, a junior Theatre and Performance Studies major from Shelbyville, Ky., is the lead as Nick Cavalenni. Sophomore Ariel Wren, Franklin, Ky., plays shy waitress Jenny, who discovers that she . . . well, you just have to see the musical!
