GEORGETOWN, KY – The 49th annual Ohio Valley Regional Emmy Awards for excellence in television have been announced. Congratulations to Miles Jackson ’07 on receiving two Emmy nominations.

Miles is an award-winning videographer for WAVE3 TV in Louisville. He and reporter Connie Leonard share one Emmy nomination in the category Feature News Report – Single Story for “Jennifer’s #1 Fan”. The second nomination is in the category Continuing Coverage for video used in reports on the March 2 tornadoes.

Originally intending to be a computer science major, Miles changed his mind after one semester and began seeking other areas of interest. In a recent blog posting on the College’s Art Department Web page, he writes, “After taking Darrell Kincer’s Photography 101 class I knew I wanted to pursue a documentary style of photography.”

His description of how he found his way is an interesting read and may be a useful reference for current and future students.

Upon graduation, Miles landed a job with Lexington TV station WKYT-TV. After four years there, he took a job with the Louisville television station.

Miles is the recipient of several Kentucky News Photographers Association (KNPA) awards and is honored to be nominated in the 2013 regional Emmy competition.

Winners will be announced during a July 20 awards ceremony in Cincinnati.
