Alumnus Ryland Pope to portray Mendelssohn’s Elijah in college presentation

GEORGETOWN, KY – The Georgetown College Concert Choir, Chorale and Orchestra come together Sunday, April 21, for a performance of Felix Mendelssohn’s masterpiece Elijah at 3 p.m. in John L. Hill Chapel.

Elijah1The oratorio written by Mendelssohn in 1845 for the Birmingham Festival (England) depicts various events in the life of the Biblical prophet Elijah, taken from the books 1 Kings and 2 Kings in the Old Testament.

Special guest soloist as Elijah is Georgetown College music alumnus Ryland Pope ’09.

Dr. John Campbell, associate professor of music, conducts.

The public is invited. Admission is free.
