Georgetown, KY – Following the successful completion of Rucker Village, the student housing facility built last year on Dudley Avenue, GC’s Board of Trustees has approved construction of another 84-bed, townhouse-style, residence complex to be known as Hambrick Village.
This structure on Military Street, across from the old Hinton Field, honors long-time history professor Horace Hambrick and his wife Maribeth.
Dr. Hambrick was a member of GC’s faculty for 46 years, 26 of them as history department chair. He also was elected first chairman of the college faculty. Maribeth served as a trustee, president of the Women’s Association and the Alumni Association.
Both are highly regarded members of the Georgetown College family and have received honorary degrees from GC. They became members of the GC Hall of Fame in 2010.
A number of naming opportunities are available in association with the construction of Hambrick Village and gifts to this new housing project will underwrite student scholarships.
