GEORGETOWN, KY – Culminating an extensive search for a seasoned, professional admissions team leader, 225-year-old, faith-based Georgetown College has recruited Michelle Lynch as its new Vice President for Enrollment Management. The future GC/VP has been serving as director of recruitment at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina: she will officially join the Georgetown team on Monday, July 9.
Ms. Lynch, a l997 Winthrop graduate, began her career as an admissions counselor for her alma mater, then served successively at Western Carolina University and at Belmont Abbey College. (Under her leadership at Belmont, her department experienced a 54% increase in applications and enrolled the largest freshman class in the history of the institution). She returned to Winthrop in 2006 as associate director of admissions, and within a year there, was promoted to Director of Recruitment. In that capacity, Ms. Lynch designed new strategies which improved both recruitment and retention of new freshmen, transfer, international, and non-traditional students, and was appointed to the Winthrop University Executive Staff last August.
Georgetown’s President, Dr. Bill Crouch, noted that although the search team interviewed four impressive, well-qualified candidates for this key role at the College, “Michelle Lynch’s obvious and vast knowledge of recruitment and admissions, her undeniable love for independent faith-based schools, and her proven track record as an exemplary leader combined to convince us that she was the ideal ‘fit’ for us. We look forward to welcoming her to our campus community on July 9th.”
Ms. Lynch’s comment: “I could not be more excited than to have been selected to head up Georgetown College’s Admissions team. I am looking forward to being on the historic campus, where academic proficiency is stressed, students are nurtured, and a commitment to Christianity is very much in evidence.”
