President’s Day Sale for PHS Members-Only! Buy One Play, Get Two Free! Includes Dinner!

George McGee will premiere three short comedies at this special Pawling Heritage Society dinner theatre event.

Members of the Pawling Heritage Society get the first crack at an entertaining and tasty President’s Day Sale (!!!) – Buy One Play, Get Two Free! – for a dinner theatre event taking place Monday, February 20 in the Cralle Student Center Hall of Fame Room.

Diners will see three original, 10-minute one-act plays by Maskrafters director George McGee interspersed throughout the meal, which will begin at 6 p.m. He’s also working up a President’s Day Quiz and promises prizes.

These short comedies – “Shall We Dance,” “At It Again!,” and “Just Dessert” – all take place in a hotel restaurant. Therefore, patrons will be part of the atmosphere and the table of actors will give new meaning to “theatre in the round.”

Most of the actors will come from McGee’s Advanced Acting Projects class, including Maskrafters mainstays Meredith Cave (junior, Nicholasville) and Cheryl Brumley (junior, Louisville). Expect to see a few faculty members sprinkled in.

PHS members need to act fast, though, as seating is limited to 60 patrons at $35 a couple (or $17.50 per person). Tickets are on sale (Sale! Sale!) now and may be reserved by contacting Stewardship Coordinator Kathleen Johnson at Kathleen_johnson@georgetowncollege.edu or (502) 863-7989.

If you aren’t a PHS member, please contact Associate VP Roy Lowdenback at roy_lowdenback@georgetowncollege.edu or (502) 863-8044 for more information. To become a member you must include GC in your will or estate plan. No specific dollar amount is required to join.

The Pawling Heritage Society takes its name from Issachar Pawling, the first person known to have made a bequest to Georgetown College in his will. In 1828, the Mercer County (KY) man offered his estate to Rev. Silas Noel as seed money to start an institution for the education of Baptist ministers. Pawling Hall, one of the College’s first permanent buildings built in the 1840s, was also named for him.
