Advertising Executive Mary Ellen Slone Joins Georgetown College as Executive Scholar and Marketing Director
Georgetown, KY — With plans already underway to celebrate Georgetown College’s 225th anniversary this year, this highly regarded, faith-based College has recruited a well-respected local marketing and advertising professional to “quarterback” the celebratory landmark, and to captain the College’s marketing team moving forward.
“Mary Ellen is a well-known, exceptional professional,” Dr. William H. Crouch, Jr., the College’s President, explained. “She has the depth and breadth of knowledge, the creativity, the skills and contacts, and the years of experience to work with and to lead our team – not only for our 225th celebration but also virtually across all of our marketing and communications opportunities.” Dr. Crouch added, “Her former team and our folks have worked together on Toyota-related projects: we reached out to her for this opportunity and we’re pleased that she has accepted our offer.”
Best known today simply as “MES,” Mary Ellen opened a one-person ad agency which grew steadily to become Meridian Communications – an entity which provided full service marketing and advertising, as well as event planning, and Mrs. Slone’s professional crisis management expertise to a variety of clients. In 2009, Meridian and the then Jordan-Chiles agencies merged.
“MES” noted, “I’m at a juncture in my professional life where ‘giving back and mentoring’ are very important to me. My commitment is to help this remarkable institution of higher learning to not only achieve, but also to exceed its goals and expectations – for its anniversary celebration, and its future. I’m honored to have been asked to join the team, and am anxious to be on campus, full time, beginning January 23, 2012.”
