Gov. Beshear Announces Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs at Georgetown College; KY High-Schoolers May Apply Now!

Frankfort, KY  – This summer, Georgetown College will be the host site for the inaugural Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs (GSE) and hopefully jumpstart the careers of a new wave of young business leaders in the state of Kentucky. That’s certainly what Gov. Steve Beshear (above center) had in mind when he announced the new hands-on, immersive program at a December 5 press conference in the Capitol building. Beshear also said he hopes the GSE will “dramatically enhance job creation” in the state.

Georgetown President Bill Crouch, left, and Kris Kimel, right, President of the Kentucky Science & Technology Corporation (KSTC), also gave remarks about this exciting program that is patterned after the very successful Kentucky Governor’s Scholars Program and the Governor’s School for the Arts. KSTC will run the three-week Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs  at Georgetown College June 9-29.

Georgetown College was chosen for the inaugural program, selected through a competitive process, due to its reputation for innovation and broad experience in hosting successful summer programs for students, according to officials.

Kentucky high school students may apply now for the 50 spots by going to the GSE website. Applicants must be 9th-, 10th-, or 11th-graders at any state public or private high school and planning to return to a Kentucky high school the following academic year. The deadline for applications is Feb. 15, 2013.
