These Tigers Growl in Classroom as Well as on the Courts and Playing Fields

At Georgetown College we can talk of academic excellence and athletic prowess in the same breath. This past year alone, 41 percent of the student-athletes earned a 3.1 or higher grade point average.

During the 2010-11 season, 26 athletes maintained a 3.5 GPA or higher as juniors or seniors, earning NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete status. To receive the Mid-South Conference All-Conference Academic award, a player must be a sophomore or higher with a 3.25 or better – 74 Tigers qualified.

Volleyball and women’s basketball both received NAIA Scholar team awards and were both recognized by outside organizations for their scholastic achievement. Volleyball was listed among the top academic programs by the AVCA, while basketball was listed as No. 6 in the country for NAIA schools for its 3.48 average.
