Each senior is required to pass a comprehensive examination in the major field of study. This special examination will be held during the final year of the candidate’s residence. The Department of Music comprehensive exam consists of two parts:
- Senior Recital,
- Written ETS Major Field Test.
The Senior Recital may be scheduled during either fall or spring semester of the candidate’s senior year. The written ETS Major Field Test should be scheduled with the department chair during spring semester, at least 30 days prior to the end of the term.
Please allow two hours for testing, in addition to approximately 15 minutes for instructions.
Music majors must take a written comprehensive test. BME students may take the PRAXIS or the ETS Major Field Test in Music. BA and BM students will take the ETS Major Field Test in Music.
