Statement of Purpose
Georgetown College is well known for its distinctive tradition of academic excellence.┬á As an innovative community of scholars developing ethical scholars committed to our heritage of Christian discernment, Georgetown is nationally recognized for its rich traditions, high ideals, superb faculty and challenging curriculum.
The Department of Music acknowledges and supports the vision, purpose and objectives of our institution.┬á It is our specific goal to provide for you experiences with and about music, in a special caring and sharing environment, which will enable you to develop your musicianship to the highest possible level.
Recognizing that the “arts are not a luxury of education, but that which makes education worthwhile,” the Department of Music seeks to provide wide and varied experiences with and about music for all members of our campus community.┬á Through active and passive interaction with musical offerings, the department seeks to enhance the intellectual, spiritual and social growth of Georgetown College.
