Welcome to the Georgetown College Math Circle!
THE SPRING SEMESTER GEORGETOWN COLLEGE MATH CIRCLE HAS ENDED. THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR A WONDERFUL SERIES OF SESSIONS! INFORMATION REGARDING THE FALL 2014 SEMESTER MATH CIRCLE WILL BE RELEASED IN AUGUST. STAY TUNED … !
Free to attendees, the Georgetown College Math Circle (GCMC) is open to Central Kentucky fifth- to eighth-grade students who hold a strong interest in mathematics and are eager to learn more. The GCMC seeks to deepen and broaden participants’ mathematical discovery and understanding as well as strengthen their ability to be successful in mathematics.
The heart of the Georgetown College Math Circle is a weekly meeting held on select Sunday afternoons in the fall and spring from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. Led by a mathematical scientist, these meetings are not tutoring sessions. Rather, they are hands-on, interactive, and fun weekly get-togethers that explore challenging and dynamic math and science topics in Asher Science Center on the Georgetown College campus.
The admission process involves parents’ completing an online application and the student’s teacher submitting a recommendation. Students are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
We are grateful to the professors and students in the Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science and the Department of Education for generously donating their time and talents to the Georgetown College Math Circle. We also thank Georgetown College for use of its facilities. The Georgetown College Math Circle is funded by private donations.
