Welcome to the Georgetown College Math Circle!
THE FALL SEMESTER GEORGETOWN COLLEGE MATH CIRCLE ENROLLMENT IS NOW CLOSED. TO BE PLACED ON THE WAITLIST IN CASE A SLOT OPENS, PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FORM. THANK YOU.
Free to attendees, the Georgetown College Math Circle (GCMC) is open to Central Kentucky Bourbon, Fayette, and Scott county fifth-grade to eighth-grade students who hold a strong interest in mathematics and are eager to learn more. The GCMC seeks to deepen and broaden participants’ mathematical discovery and understanding as well as strengthen their ability to be successful in mathematics.
The heart of the Georgetown College Math Circle is a weekly meeting held on select Sunday afternoons in the fall and spring from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. Led by a mathematical scientist, these meetings are not tutoring sessions. Rather, they are hands-on, interactive, and fun weekly get-togethers that explore challenging and dynamic math and science topics in the Asher Science Center on the Georgetown College campus.
The admission process involves parents’ completing an online application and the student’s teacher submitting a recommendation. Fifteen students per semester are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
We are grateful to the professors and students in the Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science and the Department of Education for generously donating their time and talents to the Georgetown College Math Circle. We also thank Georgetown College for use of its facilities. The Georgetown College Math Circle is funded by private donations.
