The Ensor LRC is committed to meeting the diverse and changing needs of the College’s students, faculty/staff, community patrons, and scholars by providing information and services related to the circulation of materials at the library, access to collections, and assistance in the location of materials for research and leisure use. The Circulation desk serves as an initial contact point for library questions, general reference information, and the central contact for many of the library services. Services provided by Circulation include:

Overdue Fines / Lost Library Materials

Overdue Fines are used as an incentive for borrowers to return library materials after a reasonable loan period, so that materials may be properly accounted for and can be made available for other borrowers.

Overdue Notices are issued as a courtesy to all library users. All legitimate objections to library charges will be considered. The first two notices will be sent via email, and the third, and final, notification will be mailed.

Lost Item Charge will be sent to the Business Office 10 business days after the Final Notification. Replacement cost plus $10.00 non-refundable processing fee per item.

Problems that do NOT constitute a legitimate basis for consideration are:

  • Lack of knowledge or understanding of Library policies
  • Disagreement with amount or fine structure or the inability to pay fines and charges (payment plan is available)
  • Unwillingness to take responsibility for materials checked out to you and loaned to a third party
  • Failure to receive or read an overdue notice
  • Fines accrued during vacation or College holidays
  • The Library would much rather have items returned on time than charge fines.
  • Please return library materials on time and avoid overdue fines.
  • Please remember that all items checked out from the Library should be returned by the assigned due dates.

You can review the due dates of all your items by accessing your library account.

Items not returned by the posted due date and time are assessed the following fine:

$1.00 per day for each DVD
$ .25 per hour for each reserve item
$ 5.00 per hour for library keys (no maximum fine – sometimes we only have one key and we need it back!)
$ .25 per day on all other library items (maximum fine of $10.00)

Fines may be paid at the Circulation Desk by using cash, your G-Card, or by a check made payable to Georgetown College. Unfortunately we do not have the ability to accept payment by credit card.

If any of your items have been lost, damaged, or stolen please call Randall Myers at (502) 863-8406, or email Randall Myers
