With a winning athletics tradition, active intramurals leagues and an energetic fan base, excellence in athletics runs deep in the Georgetown College experience. That passion for sports can now be applied in a new interdisciplinary academic major in Sports Administration.
Sports Administration is offered as a major beginning Fall 2014. Core curriculum focuses in the areas of business, economics, communication and media Studies, kinesiology and sociology. Beyond core classes, students have an opportunity to tailor their major to fit their individual goals, needs, and aspirations by selecting one of two tracks in either Communication and Media Studies or Kinesiology.
Sports Administration majors at Georgetown College will be able to:
- relate foundational knowledge of basic concepts and practices associated with sports administration
- analyze and think critically about personal and social issues within sports related organizations
- apply knowledge gained from coursework to an integrative sports administrative experience
Graduates with a Sports Administration major will be uniquely prepared for an exciting career in athletics or graduate studies.
